Sparks Clinic has been helping people for over 50 years combined by reducing and or removing subluxations from people of all ages, and many different health challenges.
Chiropractic works by reducing or removing subluxations of the joints that make up the spine and other areas of the body. A subluxation, which is a restricted or misaligned joint, which can limit the natural range of motion of the joint that is subluxated and even the surrounding joints. This reduced motion and displacement can decrease the function of the joint and affect the communication of the brain and central nervous system which controls everything and affects every cell, tissue, and organ in the body. When this communication is changed, the area of the body that is affected will not be functioning at it’s peak performance. The subluxation can also cause pain and discomfort, not just lowered function.
Lowered function should be enough for you to call us and have your spine checked for subluxation. If not, then when the dysfunction gets bad enough, it will start to cause pain and discomfort to the point you will need to get checked for subluxation.
There are 24 vertebra that can move, allowing the spine to move in multiple directions. These vertebrae can move in at least 8 directions. The great amount of motion can contribute to subluxations.
The vertebra help protect the sensitive nervous system from many injuries, but can also hinder the nervous system if they become dislocated. When you make an appointment with us, a chiropractic examination and radiological studies of your spine or other joints will be performed if the chiropractors feel it is necessary to diagnose your subluxations, if present.
Our chiropractors analyze the findings then create an appropriate adjustment technique and schedule, in order to reduce or remove subluxations if they are discovered. These dislocations may be in the areas of complaint or may also be in areas distant from the complaint. These subluxations may be referred discomfort or pain. Referred pain is a problem in one area of the body causing pain or discomfort in an area not adjacent to the subluxation or other causes. Regardless, whether the symptoms are local or referred, if a dislocation is affecting the problem, then reducing or removing associated subluxations can get rid of the related symptoms. Whether functional problems or discomfort complaints, they can be treated in a pleasing and positive way.
When you return to the office, the chiropractor will explain their findings from the examination to you. We will share with you what is wrong or subluxated in your spine, tell you if we can help you, and how long we think it will take for the dislocation to be reduced. Then, if you give permission for the doctor to begin, they will have you lie down to let your back relax and will use either gentle pressure from their hands or an instrument in very specific directions to begin reducing subluxations. After your first adjustment, you will meet with the chiropractic assistant to schedule and discuss financial arrangements. Several factors will affect how long weekly care will be required to stabilize condition.
Some of the factors depend on how long the subluxations have been there, how much degenerations have occurred in the subluxated joints, even how much the body has had to adapt and to the extent the body has changed because of the dislocations. When they have been present for extended amounts of time, the body changes to adapt to the dysfunction. For them to be reduced, the body will require time to adapt to the new situation. In instances there is a removed or reduced subluxation, the body’s current adaptation will cause the subluxation to reform or remain. It may take an extended amount of time for the body to adapt to the new, healthier, subluxation free spine. These types of chiropractic adjustments are commonly applied to the spine, Sacro-iliac joints, knees, ankle, hips, shoulders, elbows, wrists and the temporomandibular joint. Sometimes even the fingers or toes can become subluxated.
It is often said that chiropractic adjustments can help anyone that has spine or joint. This can be true, because anyone of any age can have a subluxation. Children, including infants have benefitted from chiropractic adjustments. They are safe for any aged person if a subluxation is present and the adjustment is applied correctly. About one in ten practice members will be slightly sore after the first few adjustments. This is rare at Sparks Clinic because Dr John and Dr William Sparks use very gentle and specific techniques to apply chiropractic adjustments. As subluxations are reduced or removed over time, the associated malfunctions and complaints will begin to lessen once the practice members body begins to operate in a more natural and higher functioning way. When the subluxation is stabilized and the practice members body is functioning correctly, the frequency and plan for adjustments are decreased to a prevention or maintenance plan. This will help find and reduce subluxations before the body has time to adapt to them, which would make them more difficult to correct if not reduced before it gets worse.
When the body has fewer subluxation, the body can experience life in a fuller way. When the nervous system has less interference, the body will perform at a higher level.
